Telford Taylor during the
Nuremberg Tribunal against the IG Farben
Telford Taylor
Telford Taylor was Chief Prosecutor in the Trial against IG Farben before the Nuremberg War Crimes Tribunal and in the other eleven subsequent Nuremberg Trials.
Mr. Taylor served as an assistant to Chief Counsel Robert H. Jackson in the Trial of the Major War Criminals before the International Military Tribunal from 1945 to 1946. After Mr. Jackson resigned, he became Chief Prosecutor for the remaining twelve trials.
During the trial against IG Farben, Mr. Taylor said: ”Their purpose was to turn the German nation into a military machine and build it into an engine of destruction so terrifyingly formidable that Germany could, by brutal threats and, if necessary, by war, impose her will and her dominion on Europe, and, later, on other nations beyond the seas.“
His Opening Statment in this trial is documented here.
